I want to thank you for your book and for your blog about how much disruption a teacher should tolerate, which is none. Just yesterday, a parent wrote me a nasty note on the back of the discipline letter that I required her son to write and get signed because he chose to up the disrespect and disruption ante. Her basic rant was that these rules are ridiculous and that my classroom must resemble a police state; and did the school board and superintendent know about this? I feel confident that once she calms down, hears about all of the good things going on in my classroom, and realizes that I am manipulation proof, she will be on board and so will her son. If not, I'm still going to have pleasant, successful days with my students on task and learning in a calm and studious environment.
